Quick Notes

★ Remember the whole Dan vs. Dave Reebok campaign back in the day? This weekend marked its revival (in the form of Wii Tennis competition) when my friend Dan stopped by. Since Dan actually plays tennis and writes for a tennis magazine, his talents carried through into the game, resulting in some intense battles. I thought I was well prepared with an in-game ranking of 2046 (1000 = pro), but the hardest computer-controlled players have nothing on this guy. Dan left triumphant this time, but a rematch is bound to happen soon.

★ I've started messing around with Wordpress a lot lately. Having used Blogger forever and sorta feeling loyal to it after all these years, I've been reluctant to change, but Wordpress is in a different league in terms of design capabilities and advanced features (for example, I don't like Blogger's uncustomizable comment system). So we'll see if this tinkering leads to anything eventually...you know, like an okaysamurai.com redesign.

★ Rented the new TMNT movie the other day and really enjoyed it despite the lukewarm reviews. I'd put it at 3.5 stars. Casey Jones is the man. The art direction and animation were spot on, and the story was a lot less cliched than I expected. Here's hoping that they follow through with the ending's hint at a sequel.

★ My daily Facebook checking has been cut down to only a couple of times a day now, down from the usual 472. I know, I know; it's been hard to cut back on the super-poke invitations and status updates ("Eugene is eating pancakes!!!"), but I'm managing okay.

Birds

A small group of these blue birds have recently decided to hang out in our backyard. I would like to think it's due to my awesome bird calling skills, but most likely it's our close proximity to Buena Vista Park instead (I've seen everything from hummingbirds to seagulls in the neighborhood skies). Aaaanyway, this past weekend was great: April visited, some friends stopped by one night for some intense Wii Sports and Warioware matches, and the warm weather made for some nice walks around the city. A few photos are here.
