 | Using Spazz 3D for VRML editing and 3D Studio Max for rendering, I've created a few virtual reality worlds, videos and screensavers. |
 | [Second Nature World] Created on 2.21.02 During one of the storylines in the Second Nature comic strip, the main character dreams about a world outside of the comics page. While he explores a 3D colorful world different form his 2D monochrome comic panels, his nerdy friend Portman captures his dream and turns it into a video game. That was the premise behind Second Nature World, a massive 3D VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) game. Players download a small VRML browser powered by Blaxxun Contact and play the game online by simply visiting a webpage. The three levels are inhabited by animated Second Nature characters, with voices provided by University of Virginia staff and students. Each level has hidden stars, secret characters, a level boss and secret actions that occur when clicking certain things in the worlds. There's also a map screen, two secret levels and single or multiplayer options. Click on the picture to the left to visit the Second Nature World website. |
[UVA Dance Marathon Racetrack] Created on 5.23.00 This VRML racing world was created to help promote the "Dancing for a Fair Start" theme of the 2001 UVA Dance Marathon charity event. The world and website have since been taken down. Visitors could take a wild virtual ride in a race car that knocked over parking cones, splashed through water and flew off ramps. Some objects in the world were hyperlinked to pages in the official Dance Marathon site, allowing people to navigate through the 2D pages with an entertaining 3D interface. | |
 | [Dance Marathon Videos] Created from 2000-2001 I rendered 6 videos for the annual UVA Dance Marathon charity event while serving as the Entertainment Chairman for 3 years. Variations on the DM logo were twisted, warped and blown up on a huge projection screen while the dancers tried to surivive 24 hours of music. Unfortunately, the video files are too large to fit online. Single frame renderings from these videos were also made into promotional desktop wallpapers. |
