I've been designing personal, non-commercial websites for about 5 years. I enjoy the creative aspects of web design like layout and interactivity. But if you ask me to create a special Javascript code to create random internal trilinear bitmaps, I'm going to go play guitar instead. I code all my pages solely using Notepad.
[Dave2n.com] Created on 1.18.02
This site is home to just about every personal web-related project that I've worked on. The main feature is a weblog that seven friends and I write for. Drawing, video games, music, teaching and a wide variety of topics are covered in dave2n.com's searchable archives. The site also received 4.5 (out of 5) rating by The Weblog Review. This is the first and only version of the site so far.
[Second Nature World] Created on 2.21.02
The most popular site that I've made is a video game created in VRML (virtual reality modeling language). Over 20,000 visitors worldwide have searched for stars and secrets in a 3D interactive environment. Running on the free Blaxxun Contact VRML browser, the game features single and multiplayer modes. The site reads like a video game instruction manual, with simple download directions and control explanations. For more information about the game, please check out the 3D design section of the portfolio.
[Second Nature Online] Created on 11.11.99
I drew a daily comic strip, Second Nature, for four years while attending the University of Virginia. All 446 comics are archived here, arranged by storylines or seasons. The creation of the site was actually worked into the comic's story, allegedly created by a nerdy character named Portman. For more information about the comic, please check out the illustration section. This is the fourth and final design of the site.
[Okay Samurai] Created on 4.5.99
I have been a part of the band Okay Samurai for almost a decade now, and this site has served as our best means of self-promotion. It was the first site that I ever worked on; the site that taught me how to write HTML. Now it has grown into a detailed online archive, with free mp3s, news updates, lyrics, photos, member bios and more. For more information about Okay Samurai, please check out the portfolio's music section. This is the third version of okaysamurai.com.
